Penang

We visited both my great grandmas in Penang.

One of them lives in the business town centre,
and the other lived in the rural areas, rearing chickens in her backyard.

Kota Kinabalu

We took a little holiday within a holiday to Kota Kinabalu, the land below the wind, Sabah.

Sabah is quite a special place. It has so much to offer, beach and sea, mountains and lakes.

We stayed at Sutera Harbour. Here is the Marina. The balcony looked out towards the South China Sea.

There are quite a lot of tiny fishes and crabs all around. We had buffet breakfast every morning.

Calling grandparents next door, hello! Can I come over now?

Dad took me for a swim but the water was freezing - to me anyway! Didn't take to it at all..



Mom and dad took a boat ride to the nearby isle.

The boatman was quite nice to a tour guide. He stopped the boat to pick up the tour guide's cap which blew off.

The corals there are almost gone. They managed to see some Nemos though.
They left me with grandma and grandpa. The next day, grandma and grandpa went as well.
On the second day, we rented a car and drove to Kinabalu park.
However, the weather was wet all around and we couldn't do much. It was a good thing too that mom and dad didn't try to climb Mount KK in that. This view is taken from the balcony of our hotel.
We met up with Pastor Clarence, Wai Yen and their children as well. He brought us to Grace Point, where we had a good seafood dinner. It was amazing to hear how the place changed from a run down disused area to such a posh hawker and restaurant area.
The toilets were really swanky too, with pebbles pool and water streaming down. The restaurant manager was really generous too, threw in a couple of free dishes for us.
It was quite a good family time and we hope to visit Sabah again in future.

Seremban..

When we were in Seremban, I played with my cousins, especially with John.

We spent Christmas together. We opened our Christmas pressies even before Christmas.

Everyone was very happy with his/her new toys.

Ah, my favourite uncle, Uncle Lim! I always made funny sounds for him.

We had fruit fest almost everyday, papaya, mangoes, mangosteen and dragon fruit!

We watched Sesame Street, ate meatballs and played cars together.

Meet Sam Sam, my other cousin. We like to observe and copy (our way of learning) each other's actions.
During the Christmas week, we went to Lau Chik's house. It was a great reunion, with other family members too!

David, Carmen and other children played Uno and Monopoly whilst some uncles and aunties sang karaoke songs.

We were well entertained and the food was really good!

We had the best "Nasi Briyani" with red curry chicken. Not that I had much of that, but I did enjoy the chicken satay. So did John!

The next day, we had Mee Suah at the Fishes' house. It used to be a CNY event, but it got shifted to Christmas as more of us came together around this time.

Here is Grand aunty Seok Kee and Ah Ku Kong. She even made a really sweet smocking dress for me. (Dad thought of it as burnt, as he had no idea what smocking was.. )


A little family portrait in the garden. This was on the last day before our flight back to the UK. Grandma and Grandpa came down from KL just to see me!

Malaysia

Here we are, on our way.. We took a long trip to Malaysia over Christmas.

We stopped by Amsterdam on transit. Lots of shopping and tulips to see to keep us occupied.

Our stay in Malaysia alternated between KL and Seremban, where mom and dad are from. In KL, we often went to the nearby park for walks. There were lots of fishes and tortoises to see.

Grandma and grandpa brought me to see some trains.

Loads of toys to play with too!
